With 7 key markets across EMEA all taking an ad hoc approach to Windows Mobile promotions, KLP was briefed to develop promotional guidelines that could be scaled up for worldwide distribution.

A centralised online solution was proposed as an alternative to printed guidelines. The online version offered the following advantages:

• quick and easy updates (no additional print costs)
• enhanced content, eg 3D in-store experience
• additional functionality, eg personalised promotional calendar
• instant, low-cost and unlimited distribution via email

Key features and functionality included:

• password protection to ensure authorised access only
• a 3D in-store flythrough to inspire Product Managers and demonstrate how Windows Mobile branding could be implemented in new and original ways
• online calendar to help plan forthcoming promotions
• simple content management system
• case studies illustrating best practice
• ‘Superuser’ account providing overall visibility of promotional plans within each market – therefore driving consistency

As the project manager, my responsibilities included:

• Scoping, budget and proposal development. Including creative idea generation and brainstorming.
• Information architecture and specification.
• Day-to-day liason with client including managing expectations.
• Documentation – creative brief, specifications & flow diagrams.
• Managing activities of developers and designers to ensure work was ‘on brief’.
• Coordinating content development.
• Monitoring progress against timeline.
• Reporting in to client.
